As I am now really pushing my voiceover / voice acting in the hope that I can make my hobby more of a lucrative enterprise alongside my full-time job, this website as you see it now will be pulled in the near future. I shall not be doing any further updates to this blog. As it is I have had relatively few visitors - those who do drop by: thanks!

I will be developing 2 new sites: Dark Phoenix Media will remain my Multimedia site, with a little about what I do, and projects currently being worked on et cetera.

The second site will become my main website: JustinDorey.com - this will be where most of my updates will go, as well as embedded voice demos, audio I have mixed, any video work that I do will also go here (no doubt linked from YouTube - thanks for the bandwidth!). I will not be hosting my own blog any longer due to the infrequency of my updates. I *will* however embed my Twitter entries into the front page of the JustinDorey.com website.

In the longterm I believe this is a more practical solution, rather than sitting on a bunch of domains I never use, and a main home page that I never visit or update myself.

Once again, anybody out there who does frequent these pages: Thanks.

Yes, I couldn’t name any of their other movies either.

Still, I’m excited about the fact I’m getting to review the movie before its official DVD release of April 9th (Published by Second Sight Films LTD and Distributed by 20th Century Fox - will be available from all good and many not-so-good video stores.) - however I’m not exactly getting a premiere, as the film was originally released in 1984 and scores a pretty reasonable 6/10 on the Internet Movie Database.

I’ll post my review here once I’ve watched the vid. Looks like some proper ‘Hackers’ style technology and will no doubt involve some superhuman AI on the part of the computer, who plays a main role (Yes, you heard right).  As the cover art itself says: “A boy, a Girl and a Computer” - and this is before World of Warcraft…

Anyway, I shall save my words for after the viewing!

I think I’ll give a new entry some thought and come back to you all. Not that there’s anybody except spambots reading this. Sometimes I feel like Jon in Garfield minus Garfield. That *is* sad. XD

One exciting thing recently is that I met legendary drummer Bill Bruford of ‘Yes’ and ‘King Crimson’ - whom I am editing some videos for to put on YouTube, lucky me! Such a nice chap, too. I’ll link the YouTube vids when they’re up.

One day I might get around to looking at my site stats and seeing how many humans read my blog!

Less than a week since I posted the Caterham Levante Edit on YouTube and already it has found its way onto a feature on BBC’s Top Gear website. I don’t get any credit for the vid, of course, the hard work was done by the guys who built the car - but I can’t help but feel hugely smug about the whole thing.

Last weekend I completed the shoot with Tom for the Renaultsport Twingo 133 public launch. I drove to Bedford Autodrome avec camera gear in order to capture all of the community goings-on at the circuit. While the weather was good to us during the shoot, the very moment we decided to stop filming, the heavens opened, and my trip home was hampered by the fact I couldn’t drive faster than 25 to 30mph on the M1 motorway.

The final product is now on the Official Renaultsport website. Watch this space for the inevitable trackday featuring the amazing Mégane Renaultsport R26.R!

In other news, this Sunday I shall be travelling to Silverstone to watch the final round of the Le Mans series - I shall of course be backing Team Modena for the win. I expect that though they cannot really win the championship from their current standings (unless the leader bins it on Sunday) I do believe they have more than the capacity to win the race. I hope to write a little more about the event here once I have returned. I will be taking my video gear down there to see what awesomeness I can whip-up.

The video was produced for the Talent Videos section, most other entrants had provided ‘Home Video’ style entries, whereas we aimed for something fun and unique, to reflect Chloe’s Entry into the pageant.

Chloe came 2nd in the placings, I would personally like to thank everyone who supported her.

This will prove an interesting challenge, as I have to have several short films produced by Monday 8th, so I get a *whole* weekend to produce them. Naturally I shall post links to them once they are done, so you shall be able to see them for yourself.

The ultimate aim of sheTribes is to create a social networking site, primarily aimed at ‘expressing the diverse aspects of womanhood’.

I realise a lot of my projects at the moment (The Miss England video, sheTribes) are orientated very strongly around women - I assure you I have not turned into some sort of male feminist… *ponders* but a lot of my work comes from those I know, and it is well known that I find it easier to make friends with those of the female persuasion!

Anyway, take a look. The site is still in its infancy, but one day it will become huge! I promise.

Just finished editing a video for current Miss England 2008 hopeful, Chloe Marshall. Needless to say it has been a tricky one…

Started out okay, met up with Chloe’s mother who is a friend anyway, who expressed an interest in getting me to produce Chloe’s talent video for the show. Needless to say the opportunity was one I was not going to let fly out the window, so I agreed to do it there and then, not knowing what was in store for me!

The day before filming, I find out that rather than having a whole 28 days to complete the shoot, I had just three. Naturally this is something every video editor dreads, as it meant that not only did the filmshoot have to be right first time, but so did the edit!

So on Saturday, Chloe, her mother and myself all got together, along with one of Chloe’s friends, Dave. The basic idea was that Chloe was supposed to wax Dave’s eyebrows (as part of her talent - beautician) - all went well, and I got the shots I needed, then it was off to the Bluebell Steam Railway! (Yes, for a Miss England talent video shoot, sounds weird huh?)

About halfway there, the BMW X3 we were travelling in had a tyre blowout, we were only doing about 50 so we pulled the car over and discovered that the whole tyre had split, so out came SuperJustin and Superdave to sort the problem out.

It is so very amusing to see such a large car as an X3 with a SpaceSaver tyre. It was a bit of a pain that we couldn’t get the blown wheel off the car…. Dave and I struggled for over an hour trying to get the old one off, and just as we were about to give up hope and flag down a passing motorist (none of the phones had signal) I managed to pop the wheel off with little effort, I guess you just need to know how! I certainly will from now on

So off we went down the dual-carriageway (Max. Speed 50mph with the Spacesaver tyre) and when we finally got to the railway we had quite a traffic tailback!

So, car woes aside, the rest of the shoot went spiffingly. The guys at the BlueBell railway were extremely kind and helpful, may that place continue to thrive for many years! (Especially to the train driver that let Chloe into the Cabin and blow the whistle which gave everyone a shock - heheh)

Sadly, all that was left once we had returned was for me to edit the video. So over the next 48 hours, I spent about 37 of them locked away chopping out all the useless footage, keeping good bits, and even the not-so good bits. I couldn’t afford to waste anything. Then finally, at 6.00pm on Monday the 7th of July, I finished the blasted thing!

Once I the video is released to the public domain I shall embed it in a post on here via the goodness that is YouTube.
