July 17th Re-Launch a Great Success
Popular Verwood Club "Busy All Day"
With final refurbishments completed with just hours to go, Verwood's Club 31 has well and truly been re-launched.
The Moorland Road Club was packed with local people from 11am through to midnight as they flocked to see the changes made to the club that was threatened with closure just 15 months ago. "I just cannot believe the transformation, " said local resident John Jenkins "It really does deserve to succeed". Attractions included free snacks from the new kitchens, beer tasting from Club 31's suppliers Ringwood Brewery and a wide selection of local groups and societies manning stalls in the Club's large Function Hall.
Entertainments Manager Michelle Poole said "It's just so great seeing this place full of people enjoying themselves - we've had wonderful support from Verwood Concert Brass, the young ones have enjoyed the clowns, stilt-walkerws and jugglers and we've taken over 100 new memberships too."
Club 31 has created a new bar-lounger area, refurbished the restaurant, installed new lighting and a host of other improvements. "Our team has worked so hard to get everything ready," said Club 31's chairman Brian Giddings. "A week ago, we were knocking walls through, replacing ceiling tiles, doing re-wiring and an endless range of painting - but it's all been worth it". Membership numbers are approaching 1000 and all three bars were busy throughout the day.
Operations Manager Alan Dorey added a dose of realism too. "The test is still to come, though. We can't sit back and rest. We have to keep the momentum going and doing all we can to atttract people and members to the superb facilities we now have. Twice in the past, former owners of this site have failed - and we're determined to ensure we're not added to the list. With proper promotion, great prices, quality food - and regular enterainments, we believe we have a winning formula".
